Have a splendid summer on the South Coast

Summertime and the livin’ is easy - as Ella Fitzgerald is fond of reminding us.

If you’re fortunate to be living at one of PegasusLife’s South Coast properties, this summer is the perfect time to enjoy the wide range of local attractions.

Where to start?

PegasusLife South Coast

From Sussex through to Hampshire and Dorset, England’s south coast boasts incredible sunshine throughout the summer. With breathtaking scenery from the countryside to the coastline and rich cultural history, it’s time to start planning a few days out while the sun shines.

Something for everyone

There’s something for all interests - from glorious gardens and stately homes to maritime museums and art galleries - together with a tasty offering of the finest restaurants, enchanting tearooms, British vineyards and country pubs. What could be more quintessentially English on a sunny summer’s day than sitting outdoors enjoying a cream tea or a chilled glass of wine!

If walking or cycling appeals to you, the South Coast offers wonderful way-marked routes and bike trails that will lead you through uplifting scenery - from the coast to market towns, quaint villages to open landscapes.

What to do in:

Hampshire

Brimming with places of interest, stunning scenery, fascinating history and heritage, Hampshire is a top choice for a summertime trip.

For a unique day out, the New Forest is one of a kind where horses and donkeys roam wild through the tall trees of the forest. The cosy villages have an abundance of farm shops and pubs. Our Brockenhurst development, Holmwood, is situated in a prime location in the heart of the New Forest, perfect for soaking up this homely culture.

If you’re looking for something less tranquil and more adventurous, head to the historic city of Winchester towards the north of Hampshire. The historic city is dominated by its impressive cathedral, which dates back to 1070 and is one of the largest cathedrals in Europe. Make time to visit the Great Hall to see the legendary Round Table of King Arthur and his knights. As well as its history, Winchester has much more to offer - from fabulous restaurants and cute cafes to quaint pubs and independent shops.

For the city-by-the-sea, head back to the coast to Portsmouth. Enjoy the views from the Spinnaker Tower or stop off at the Historic Dockyard and marvel at the Famous Three - HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Cold War submarine, HMS Alliance.  From both Portsmouth and Southampton, you can take a ferry to Cowes to explore the glorious Isle of Wight.

Dorset

Dorset

Collect fossils and relax along Dorset’s breathtaking stretch of the Jurassic Coast. Take a picnic and sit on the beach at Durdle Door, enjoying incredible views of the limestone arch. Visit the ancient ruins of Corfe Castle or take in the majestic splendour of Lulworth Castle. If you’re feeling energetic, the climb uphill from Lulworth Cove is well worth the effort, as you’ll be rewarded with glorious views from the Isle of Portland to St. Aldhelm's Head near Swanage.

Poole is home to our stunning Woodlands development, situated in Canford Cliffs, just moments from the beach. Have a day of dinghy sailing or go to Poole Quay’s summertime programme of live music events.

Spend the day walking along the golden sands at Hengistbury Head beach, finishing off in Bournemouth with top quality entertainment and a fantastic choice of shops and restaurants.

Sussex

Brighton

Residents living in our Hortsley development in Seaford, don’t have to travel far to explore the seaside towns of Brighton, Eastbourne or Hastings. Take a stroll down from the city centre with a picnic, and admire the incredible views over the cliffs at Seaford Head. This is a sight not to be missed!

Brighton is brilliant for a fun day out, an overnight stay or longer - there’s so much to see and do. Enjoy a taste of the traditional British seaside holiday and head to Brighton Pier for fairground rides and arcade games. Or you could opt for the more leisurely pursuit of lunch. Explore The Lanes of Brighton town centre for a selection of cafes and boutique eateries, before browsing the quirky little clothes, antique and record shops.

If you fancy rising above it all, take to the skies on the fantastic British Airways i360 - a 531-foot-high observation tower on Brighton seafront with impressive views across the South Downs and over the English Channel.

To enjoy some time in the countryside, the South Downs Way throughout the stretch of Sussex is the perfect nature getaway. On route to Eastbourne, visit the Seven Sisters, striking white cliffs that form a beautiful natural wonder. You’re never far from a great view in Sussex!

Our properties in Seaford, Brockenhurst and Poole offer our owners the tranquillity of rural and coastal settings surrounded by great views. Whether you live by the south coast or elsewhere in the country, PegasusLife has something for everyone. Head to our developments page to find out more.
