The process of moving home, at any age, can be a huge undertaking, and many of our customers are downsizing from long-standing family homes . This means the logistics of a home sale, coupled with the packing and sorting of a lifetime of possessions, can be incredibly overwhelming, especially for those having to do it on their own.

We know from our customers that the hassle of moving home is a big barrier to downsizing, with our recent research showing that only 14% of those aged over-55 are considering downsizing, and 37% of survey respondents saying the hassle of moving and its lengthy process is holding them back.

We want to make that transition a little easier, which is why we offer a complementary ‘Homemoves Service’ to help take the stress out of moving. From a full unpacking and put away service to floor planning and support in disposing of items, the service we offer in partnership with Aprico is designed with downsizing in mind.

Supporting your move every step of the way

Regardless of the size of their home, the level of decluttering, where they are moving from and to, and the scale of downsizing, our concierge style moving service means customers don’t have to lift a finger.

When it comes to downsizing, there is no one-size-fits-all approach, and we recognise that every customer has a different situation. That’s why our service starts with an in-person visit from Aprico’s concierge team, typically 3-4 months ahead of the move-in date, to get to know the customer and understand their individual needs.

If a customer has items they wish to sell, we will support them in researching local auctions and finding them the best value. Anything that they want decluttered, we then look to primarily donate to our partnership charities and anything that can’t be donated we dispose of safely.

To help our customers visualise downsizing, we offer a floor planning service where we create a scale drawing of the customer’s new home with their furniture in. This enables them to see what will fit in the space and what might need rethinking, and helps to relieve the pressure on moving day by ensuring everything goes into its right place.

We also offer a full unpacking and put away service, ensuring that when our customers arrive, they are box free and ready to enjoy their new home. Margaret, who moved into our community in Cheltenham commented, The Homemoves service was fantastic, the team packed everything up for me and put everything in its rightful place in my new home -they even made the bed for me! I instantly felt settled in my new home.”

Communities underpinned by connections

Move aside, the thought of making new social connections and finding like-minded neighbours can be an additional factor in people’s reticence to moving in later life.

Featuring shared living spaces including kitchens, libraries and gyms, alongside beautiful, landscaped gardens and allotments, Pegasus’ communities have been designed with community in mind to empower an overall healthier lifestyle and foster new social connections.

Home is more than just bricks and mortar, and it is the personal touch paired with discretion that sets our communities apart. Across all our communities, our dedicated ‘lifehosts’ play an invaluable role, whether that’s facilitating new book clubs or coffee mornings, booking a theatre trip for you and your family, or simply being your first stop for any queries or concerns.

Whether you are downsizing, moving closer to family and friends, or simply seeking something new, Pegasus has over 20 age-exclusive communities in some of the UK’s most desirable locations, including Bath, Bristol and Newcastle.

With options to Buy, Rent or Rent to Buy, Pegasus gives you the freedom, flexibility and breadth of choice to help you find a new home that’s right for you.
