A historic gastropub on Cranleigh’s high street, The Richard Onslow serves an elegant menu consisting of fresh and seasonal produce. The restaurant is open from breakfast through to dinner and is known in the area for its delicious Sunday roasts with all of the trimmings. Post-dinner, diners can relax in the secluded courtyard, kitted out with firepits for the colder months.
Lemongrass is a stylish Thai restaurant that uses local and internationally sourced ingredients to create an authentic Thai menu. Where to Walk
Part of the Surrey Hills, Pitch Hill is a gradual incline trail with incredible views of the South Downs National Park from its summit. The view from Pitch Hill is said to have inspired George Harrison to write The Beatles’ famous song, Here Comes the Sun. Although popular with mountain bikers, Pitch Hill has a number of walking trails that take in the beautiful scenery.
Bookhurst Wood is a scenic woodland home to ancient trees and lush greenery stretching for 15 hectares. Tree varieties that can be seen at Bookhurst include hazel, birch, ash, willow and aspen. The Wood is a great spot for a gentle weekend walk.
Arts & Culture
Established in London over 30 years ago, Belgravia Gallery is a family-run art gallery in Fortune House, Cranleigh. The Gallery showcases a range of pieces by renowned artists such as Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst, and original illustrations by Nelson Mandela.
Cranleigh Arts Centre is a community-focused arts and entertainment venue. Throughout the year, the Centre holds different events and exhibitions, from live music performances to comedy shows, so there’s something for everyone no matter what their artistic interest. Alongside its existing programme, the Centre is used by other community organisations to offer classes and programmes for locals to try including singing, life drawing, knitting and yoga.
