Top tips for decorating your home with style this summer, from interior designers; Dapa.

We spoke to Lead Creative, Karl Openshaw from Dapa Interiors, who shared with us his interior design top tips for decorating your home this Summer. Dapa Interiors is a luxury bespoke interior design company and is the specialist behind the interiors of our Cranleigh Coves and Wharf lane communities.

Where do you look for your design inspiration?

We work closely with a colour forecast company who offer a great insight into what is driving new looks in fabrics, colour and surfaces; this is always two seasons ahead. Our team brainstorm and collaborate, this offers us a hub of ideas and inspiration for upcoming projects. Pinterest and Instagram are always a great inspiration too.

What interior trends have we seen so far in 2022?

Emerging from the pandemic there was a huge shift to bold colour alongside a real connection with nature and wellness. Pattern became punchier with a focus on comfort and sustainability.

What new trends can we expect this Summer?

Fresh pastels that are calming and vibrant. Pantone's colour of 2022, 'Very Pink' has really brought lilacs and periwinkle blue to the forefront. This teamed with calming greens offer a fresh feel to any interior.

Uplifting colours that inject positivity in a sophisticated grown-up way, to make really liveable spaces. A strong connection with nature is something that's really been a big draw; biophilia, plants and greenery offer a great way to bring nature inside. Upcycling and natural finishes offer that link for responsible eco design.

What do you love most about Summer interior design?

It's a time that we are of course drawn to colour to bring the vibrancy of summer, or hazy sun bleached tones to echo far flung exotic locations. Vibrant table settings for elaborate summer entertaining; in contrast bathrooms and bedrooms offer that laid back sanctuary.

What are your Summer interior must-haves?

To really add that Summer feel there is nothing nicer than linen bedding. It's soft and cooling, so go for a mix of colours that have that elegant and faded look. Summer scents evoke memories of laid-back living, diffusers or candles really fill a room with intoxicating scents. Heady notes of basil, citrus and amber carry you away to that happy place.

Any top design tips you can share?

To get that Summer vibe nothing could be easier than adding vibrant artwork, along with some pops of colour with a cushion or two - an easy way to inject that summertime feeling. Bold coloured vases and accessories really flip the look and add colour too. Finally, grab some paint and get painting a feature wall with bold colour, for an instant summer colour fix.
