The Grounds

From the stretches of wildflower meadows to the ornate rose garden by the arrival court, the grounds at Wildernesse House are rich and varied. The kitchen garden comprises a series of raised herb and vegetable beds, while the orchard comes into its own in the autumn, producing a variety of fruits for jams and conserves. Long summer evenings are best spent relaxing by the sundial folly. With a traditional sundial and comfortable seating, this sunny spot has unrivalled views of the main house and looks out across the surrounding grounds.

Living in Sevenoaks

For all its glorious seclusion, the Wildernesse estate has always been an important part of the area’s local community. The lively town of Sevenoaks is less than two miles away and has much to offer all year round.

The town has a variety of shopping options. You'll find independent retailers and boutiques selling everything from antiques and jewellery to designer clothing and artisan food, while Bligh’s Meadow, the town’s shopping centre, is home to a range of well-known stores. The area is famous for its local produce, and a number of restaurants promote local growers and offer seasonal menus. Try The Vine, with its private dining rooms, or Valentina Fine Foods, where you’ll find daily specials and store cupboard essentials.

Numerous cultural events also take place throughout the year. The Sevenoaks Summer Festival is popular with locals and visitors alike, while arts lovers can explore the Sevenoaks Three Arts Festival and the Sevenoaks Art Club’s annual exhibition.
