Junior Legal Counsel

Who We Are

PegasusLife is a business on a mission to fundamentally change the way retirement property is understood and delivered in the U.K.  We believe that the current sector is not doing enough to meet the expectations of people in this country. That’s why we strive to make all our projects unique, relevant and inspiring, from the day we first discover a site, to moving day, and beyond.  Each development is uniquely designed to give people an experience based on what matters to them. It is ‘Retirement Living, but not as you know it’.

We are a fast moving, sector changing, highly creative company.  We have brought together leading experts in their field to be part of the PegasusLife team.  We work together to meet our objectives and deliver our mission.

The Role

This role is to support the General Counsel in ensuring that the PegasusLife group meets its legal obligations, that the business grows and develops in line with the strategic business plan and that it achieves its commercial objectives.

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for providing professional legal advice and guidance to our teams on a wide range of land, development, finance, construction and facilities management matters.  You will also support our sales, marketing and customer experience functions and support the business with all corporate matters, including any future corporate acquisitions.

Crucially, you will often be the “face” of PegasusLife Group, and will hold an ambassadorial role with key stakeholders including investors, funders, suppliers and customers, to ensure our reputation for quality is backed up by our reputation for excellent and ethical business dealings including our commitment to the Housebuilder Consumer Code.

This is a wide and varied role with an opportunity to make a big impact and grow your profile within a fast growing business.  There will be opportunity for both personal development and career progression as the business grows.

What We Are Looking For

You’ll be a qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales, with 3 -5 years PQE gained at a leading national or international law firm or within an equivalent in-house department.  We will consider candidates with greater PQE. Previous experience of working in-house and in particular within a fast growth environment would be advantageous.

The ideal candidate will have experience of property and/or infrastructure development, especially land, planning and/or construction contracts. Experience of project and/or property and/or corporate finance is desirable. Importantly, you will be commercially aware and astute and able to build relationships within the business at all levels.

Location, Salary, Benefits

This role comes with a competitive basic salary and bonus, alongside a benefits package including enhanced annual leave, life assurance, Healthshield, and a contributory pension.

It will be based at Winchester, although there will be an occasional requirement for travel to our other offices and sites.
